How To Cure A Post Election Hangover

Has this long and drawn out election season made you feel tired, weak, nauseous, maybe even a little sleazy for having voted?  Are you glad it’s over but still in a fog that you can’t see your way out of?  If so, you might have election hangover or Post Election Fatigue.  In the US, in 2016  Post Election Fatigue or PEF as it is commonly referred to is a very common ailment but don’t lose hope, we will talk about some really effective remedies, but first lets take a better look at PEF.

Here’s a list of common signs of PEF. Having these symptoms might be an indication that you are or could be Pre PEF:

   -Irritability
   -Fatigue
   -Loss of appetite
-Loss of hair from sides of head (due to manual hair pulling)
-Using the phrase “please please please don’t talk about politics” (under breath)
-The desire to grab a stuffed suit “journalist” on TV and scream in their face…”Do you even journalism Bro?”
-Unfriending people on Facebook or the desire to every time you see one of their posts.
-A twinge in one eye whenever you hear political speech.  WARNING: A twinge in one eye is the last warning sign before you experience a twinge in both eyes which is the body’s natural defense mechanism designed so you can’t clearly witness yourself commit a felony.                                                                     On a side note, am I the only one who tip toes through the facebook feed like walking through a mine field?  It’s like
                         * BOOM- opposing canidate                                                                                                                                    * BOOM memes making fun of your Canidate                                                                                                        *  “Oh Look I didn’t know the Jones’s were in North Carolina this week.  I thought they were going next month"                                                                                                                                                                           * BOOM-Political nonsense                                                                                                                                     * “Oh look a kitty and he is stuck in a box, how cute!"
                        * BOOM                                                                                                                                                After 11-9-2016 any of these symptoms mixed with fatigue may indicate full blown PEF.
The good news is if you are a CT resident, you are well equipped to handle this condition .  PEF thrives in a contentious environment but so do we.  Take me for example; I live in central CT which should be a Demilitarized Zone for sports teams, but it's not, it’s the front lines for battle. To the North and East are Red Sox Fans, to the South and West Yankee fans.  Those lines also pretty much divide the Patriots and Giants Fans as well.  We have been ground zero for sports rivalries for decades or longer. So we are more than capable handling a little political drama.
There’s hope!  After a little R & R you will start feeling better.  Some of the symptoms will naturally start clearing up.  Over the next couple days...
-your blood pressure will start to drop down to what will be only abnormally high levels (it’s a start)
-you will come to the realization you only voted for “so and so” to keep “so and so” from winning and that little bit of guilt will help soften some of that anger.
-your fists will slowly start to unclench revealing the remains of crushed objects left in the creases of your palms.
-Facebook will show you all the people you unfriended as "People You May Know" and you can begin to heal the relationships with those you unfriended, that you were never really sure of how you knew in the first place.                                                                                                                                                                   Getting past PEF is a conscious effort, fueled by healthy food, exercise and a temporary avoidance of trigger people.  We here in CT are in a unique position to lead the way battling PEF.  While PEF is highly contagious so is the cure, and like everything in life worth while, it is a choice.  I made the decision months ago, regardless of the outcome, life will go on and I will get up, most likely add another layer of foil to my tin foil helmet, and go out and tackle life as usual.  I hope you do the same (foil optional).  Please remember we are all Americans and we all want whats best for our families but may disagree on the path to get there! Please share this with a friend or someone you know who is suffering from PEF.
