Happy New Year CT! I hope this year is already off to a great start for you. If not, there is still plenty of time! Speaking of great starts, the Guilford Rotary put on their 31st annual Frosty 5K today.
In 31 years of the event this must have been one of the warmer days it was held. With full sunshine and mild temperatures, it was a perfect day for a race.
All proceeds went to charities totaling 22,000 to support two great causes which included Warm the children and Guilford Rotary Club Memorial Education Fund, Inc.
Warm the Children is a program whose mission is to provide new warm winter clothing for children of needy families. The Guilford Rotary Club Memorial Education Fund Inc provides scholarships and no interest loans for deserving Guilford residents.
The race attracted around 1000 runners, over 700 of which were pre-registered and 60 volunteers donated their time. Rat Race Timing took care of the management and timing. Congrats to all who ran as well as volunteers- it was a great event.
Congrats to Jake Gurzler of Manchester who finished 1st overall in the men’s division with a time of 16:23.4 - a pace of 5:17 and congrats to Cheryl Anderson who finished 1st in the women’s division with a time of 18:06.0 - a pace of 5:50. Keep an eye out for this race next year and find other great events on our Run/Walk section.
