The 4th annual Denali Run The Gauntlet was held on Sunday in Madison CT. If you are thinking a nice sunny October morning is a perfect time for an obstacle race right on the water, you’d be right, it was. Run the Gauntlet is a 5K obstacle race with man made obstacles held right on beautiful Hammonasset beach. The race started and finished on Megs Point.
Run the Gauntlet is 1 of the 2 races in the Gauntlet Race series, the other being Rock The Gauntlet Race. Rock the Gauntlet is another 5K obstacle course held in the spring. The Denali races are an outreach of the Denali Outdoor Clothing and Footwear Stores. Denali is a CT owned business with 5 locations here in CT and one in Rhode Island. All proceeds from the event this year went to the Soundview Family YMCA with the idea of encouraging kids to get outside (Applause Here!). Not only that but ALL proceeds from all their events go to a charitable cause.
There were around 750 runners in three waves starting at 9:00, 10:00 and 11:00 AM. Everyone was able to share in the after run party with live music, and food by Olde World Pizza. There were venders as well like Smart Wool and Trimino which is also a CT based company.
